The attention difference

The best of both worlds.

Mockingbird is a full-service preschool in a warm, residential setting. We offer the intimacy and close relationships families love about home-based care, supported by a dedicated team of expert educators, thoughtful learning environments, and all-inclusive amenities.

You’re not depending on a single caregiver or getting lost in a crowded center. Our very low ratios intentionally keep the experience personal. Your child is deeply known, your family belongs, and you don’t have to choose between personal attention and professional care.

01

Seen in the moment

Teachers can follow each child’s interests, cues, and developmental pace.

02

Known over time

Consistent educators stay with children across the full day, without an aftercare handoff.

03

Supported as a family

Clear, proactive communication makes school and home true partners.

Two stages. One thoughtful beginning.

Programs that grow with them.

Mixed-age classrooms give younger children models to follow and older children meaningful chances to lead.

Are we a good fit?
Mockingbird MicroSchool founders Anthony and Joanna Carrillo with their children
Founded by parents,
for the childhood we wanted.

Why we built Mockingbird

We toured a dozen schools and never found “the one.”

So we created the small, serious, joyful early-learning community we wanted for our own children.

What began as a family question became a licensed South Austin preschool for families who believe these years deserve extraordinary care.

The right fit matters

For families who want a partner, not just a provider.

Mockingbird is intentionally small, full-time, and highly collaborative. We are at our best with families who value thoughtful communication, purposeful early education, and a close-knit community.
